The whole high protein low carb diet sensation first came about with the introduction of Dr Atkins and his Atkins diet. Since then, the Atkins diet has actually changed to include more carbs to make it more livable in so many ways. They actually now make it so that you follow the diet for however long you want to lose weight, and then they slowly introduce small amounts of carbs back into the diet, 5g at a time per day or something like that until you stop losing weight, and then that’s the point at which you restrict your daily carbs to just that amount. Still, many people can’t manage to maintain it after that. But frankly it was about the time Atkins died that they did this. The official reports say that he slipped on ice. But frankly, I really think it’s because he died of a heart attack. But being that he was following his own diet, they obviously don’t want that publicized. I can definitely understand that. Their sales still dropped because of it and because of the introduction of more reasonable low carb diets in general to compete. But at the same point in time, would it kill them to make real and lasting changes?
